The varsity boys' tennis team maintains its undefeated record, moving to 7-0 on the season after sweeping Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Bishop Stang in an away match last Friday.
Senior captain Patrick McCarthy picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Lenny Murphy at first singles, with sophmore Conner Downing blanking Owen Leary 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. Sophomore Anders Nelson went 6-1, 6-0 over Liam Kidd at third singles.
On the doubles courts, the first team of juniors Dunavon Belisle and Charlie Parkhurst went 6-1, 6-1 over Dylan Soule and Marc Rice. It was Parkhurst's first varsity win.
Second doubles proved the most challenging matchup of the day, with freshman Finn Simpkins playing in his first varsity match. Simpkins and partner David Webster dropped a close first set 5-7 to Lorenzo Dube and Gregory Lucarelli, but rallied to go 6-3 in the second and pull off a 10-7 win in the third to seal the deal.
The team hosts league opponent Bishop Feehan at home on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
