A new piece of equipment that eliminates several steps in the production process was installed this week at the Vineyard Gazette. The state-of-the-art Platewriter 8000, produced by Danish manufacturer Glunz & Jensen, uses inkjet technology to create plates for the printing press directly from images of newspaper pages. The process is chemistry-free, and should result in better, most consistent print reproduction.
