Day ends in purple and pink, westward over Narragansett avenue in Oak Bluffs. Timothy Johnson

Thursday, November 5, 2015

The emotions of Veterans Day are an amalgam of joy and sorrow shared by no other holiday on our nation's calendar. It is a moment of solemn tribute and remembrance, its accompaniment the mournful song of the bugle and the sharp report of the rifle salute. We grieve for the price so many have paid for our freedoms, and yet we celebrate the fruits of those sacrifices — the good life we enjoy today.
