The Aquinnah Wampanoag Teen Group will be sponsoring its third annual powwow tomorrow at Aquinnah Circle. Doors open at 10 a.m. with the grand entry at noon. Festivities continue through 6 p.m.

There will be Native American dance, drumming, and singing with guests from several tribes across New England. Vendors will be selling native crafts. Food will be available at booths or at the Dreamcatcher or the Aquinnah Shop at the Cliffs.

Absolutely no alcohol, drugs, or pets will be allowed. Parking will be available with shuttle service between the designated parking lots and Aquinnah Circle.

Tickets for the powwow are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 through 12, and free for children under five years of age. The public is invited to join in the festivities and realize that “we are still here.”

Aquinnah police officer T.J. Clark returned to his studies at Westfield State College this week and has promised to return weekends for a while.

Tony Garnier, his wife Tricia Mulligan, and their son Lucas are guests at the Totem Pole Inn this month. This is the annual visit for Lucas, now two and a half years old, who is enjoying Aquinnah more each visit.

Edward Harris and his daughter Chelsea returned to California this past week after spending more than a week with his aunt Grace Reeves and her husband Barry. Grace and Barry are now entertaining his brother Joseph Reeves of Brooklyn for his annual visit.

Dan Linfield, son of Nicholas and Susanna Linfield of Miami, has returned to his studies at Sarah Lawrence College where he will enter his sophomore year. Dan has worked at the Aquinnah Shop all summer. He is the nephew of Duncan Caldwell of Aquinnah and the grandson of Robert Caldwell of Chilmark.

Av Morrow and his wife Dora entertained their family and friends on Sunday evening with their annual lobster fest at DoraLu Manor. Another grand event with such wonderful friends. This year they celebrated their 60th anniversary on June 3 which was cause for their celebration. Next year they will celebate the 40th anniversary of their LuLu bus, their 1968 VW bus that is still on the radar screen.

Joan Gentry Patadal returned home this past week after being hospitalized in Boston for the past two weeks. She was encouraged throughout her hospital stay by her mother Beatrice Gentry and by her sister Barbara Gentry. Joan was accompanied home by her daughter Beatrice Patadal and her niece Adrian Gentry.

All the best to former Aquinnah police detective Ryan Ruley as he has started his duties at the Boston College police department. He has served our community well in his term here.

Dwain Smalley has been the guest of Pam Vanderhoop and her sons Jeffrey and James Willis and Keenan and Jaron Chalin.

Thank you to Bill Stafursky for introducing Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley and her husband Thomas O’Connor to so many Vineyarders on their visit.

Carl and Don Widdiss returned home on Saturday after spending two days at the Deutsche Bank Championship Golf Tournament in Norton. They were enthusiastic about watching Tiger Woods from a close vantage point.

Happy sixth anniversary wishes to Ricky and Michelle Duarte as they celebrate on Sept. 8.

Happy birthday wishes to Paul G. Manning as he celebrates his special day today. Jeffrey Kurth and Danny Mayhew will be celebrating their special day on Saturday. Matthew Vanderhoop will party on Sunday and shares the day with Tyler Vanderhoop who will be five years old.

Matthew Seeman will party on Monday, Brian Little Buck Vanderhoop parties on Tuesday, and Jason Hobbs next Thursday.
