The weekend of fun and tennis last weekend was a smashing success on all counts. The large gathering at the opening party for the Farm Neck Tennis Open bid generously at the auction to play with guest tennis pros, Luke and Murphy Jensen, along with notable Island pros.

Forty young tennis enthusiasts showed up for the skills and drills games at Vineyard Youth Tennis. And over 75 players showed off their skills at Farm Neck in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles tournament play.

More than $20,000 was raised for the combined charities, Martha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group, and the Mebitt Morano Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Mike Johns, the Farm Neck tournament director, said, “A great effort was made by all our volunteers and many special local Island businesses to make this such a wonderful success.”
