By the time you read this article, the turkey has been picked clean and ready for soup stock. The pies are half-eaten and you have had two or three of your favorite turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches. I hope whatever you did and who was with you that it was a happy time for all.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their birthday these past few weeks. Big balloons go out to Carlos Guzman and Hunter Thomas who celebrated on Nov. 5, David Millen on Nov. 6, Bailey Morgan on Nov. 11, Nicole Bourgault on Nov. 12, Katelyn Fritz and Nathan Lopez-Mata on Nov. 16, Kelly Cleary, Joshua Grant, Jackson Koorse, Audrey McCarron, and Caitlin Nichols, who all celebrated their day Nov. 17, Meghan McHugh on Nov. 18, Carina Cataloni and Greg McCarron Jr. on Nov. 20, and Erik Faber, who celebrates his day today, Nov. 23.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary Nunes who has suffered a stroke. I am sure she would love to hear from her friends on the Island. Mary cannot talk, and her daughter April is reading for her so some support and encouragement might be the medicine she needs.

Congratulations to Jeff Phillips who graduated from Boylston Police Academy. This was the first class to graduate students that have bachelor’s degrees. The time is shorter in this academy as he has completed his degree and Jeff will finish with his master’s degree in June. It has always been Jeff’s dream to be a police officer on the Island and he is headed in the right direction.

Barbara Phillips and son Greg Phillips of Edgartown, Jeff’s mother and brother, and Les Phillips from Oak Bluffs, Jeff’s father, traveled to Boylston to attend the ceremony. Congratulations, Jeff, we are all very proud of you.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
