Can you believe that Christmas is only 11 days away? I don’t know about anyone else, but I had better start shopping. The time is going by too fast.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Victoria Scott who celebrated her day on Dec. 8; Warner Hess, Joshua Pinto and Gustavo Ramos who all celebrated on Dec. 10; John Cirell Alfonso, Alexandra Ellis and Charlie Morano on Dec. 12; Kassidy Bettencourt and Harrison Neville-Arena who celebrated on Dec. 13; and Mathias Gundersen and Xiaola Wen who celebrate their day today, Dec. 14.

The Evening of Enchantment was a big success. Those who braved the rain, and there were many, really enjoyed themselves as when they came back the next day to either look around again or make their wreaths.

I was in the Tropical House where my village was on display. Thanks to Andrew Kelly and Kate Conde, the village was magical. After three hours of watching people look at it, I couldn’t decide who liked it more, the kids or the adults. I heard one conversation that the village looked like where they had grown up.

On the other side of the house, Lori Machado had displayed her Patriot Village. It was a hit and the kids loved the mini-football field.

I have people ask me about the burning of home candles. This is the time of year that it is the most important to me.

When I was five, my brothers were both in the service. One was in the Navy and the other in the Marines. Of course they were never stationed close to home around the holidays, so my parents would always shine one white candle on the right side of the sidewalk to guide them home safely.

So with our country in the turmoil that it is in with the war, there are many parents, brothers, sister, husband and wives that are serving our country and we wish to guide them home safely. I now keep the candle burning the whole year until the end of the war and all are home safely, which I can only hope will be soon.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
