Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation plans to appoint Adam Moore, a former land superintendent at the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank, as its new executive director.

Mr. Moore is currently executive director of the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, a position he has held since 2001. He oversees 800 miles of trails. During his tenure, Mr. Moore doubled the size of the staff, greatly increased annual giving, and became a national and statewide advocate for conservation.

Steve Crampton, president of the Sheriff’s Meadow board, said yesterday that while Mr. Moore’s appointment is not yet final, he expects it will be done by the end of the month.

“We’ve offered and he’s accepted, and we fully expect him to be the new executive director, and it’s very exciting,” Mr. Crampton said.

Mr. Moore is slated to start full time on May 1.

A Connecticut native, Mr. Moore is a graduate of Yale College and holds a master’s degree in forestry from the Yale School of Forestry. He and his wife Melissa, a registered nurse, have four children between the ages of 11 and one.

He worked as land superintendent at the land bank between 1998 and 2001.

“I always thought about returning to Martha’s Vineyard but it needed the right opportunity. This job is just that. I look forward to engaging myself in the community and devoting myself to conserving the landscape for which I have an abiding love,” Mr. Moore said.
