The days are getting longer and the sun has been shining. We are not shivering as the temperature has been bearable. The Patriots are in the Super Bowl. What more could we ask for?

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Ryan Gosson who celebrated Jan. 19, Kylie Fauteux and Jared Rivard who celebrated Jan. 24, and Alec Cobban and Quinn Cobban who celebrated their day Jan. 25.

My husband Ralph and I traveled to Somerset this past weekend. My niece Debbie had given me a ticket to the play Rent. So it was a girls’ afternoon for us as Debbie, her daughters Amanda and Kaleigh, and I were off to the Providence Performing Arts Center for the afternoon. The play was fabulous. I had seen the movie and loved the music, so to see it performed live was amazing. It is a sad but powerful story and more dramatic seeing it live.

So while the girls were off for the afternoon, Ralph and my cousin David Cooper were off to the Bass Pro Shop. Ralph said the place was overwhelming: so much to see they didn’t know where to start. They had a great time and then we all met with my cousin Nancy and went to Madeira’s, a Portuguese restaurant in East Providence. It was a great day.

As I told you last week, it was Tina Cavallo’s birthday and she was feted with a birthday party on Sunday at the American Legion. Soigné did the catering, of course, as Puppy is her son. As you might expect, the food was delicious. Her son Gino came from New York and Sam Stancoti came from Connecticut. Neighbors Michelle and Doug Torian came from New York, along with many Island friends and neighbors who all made the afternoon a n ice day for Tina.

This is definitely Boston’s year for sports. With the Red Sox winning the World Series, the Celtics are on a streak and the Bruins are doing okay and of course there are the Patriots. Patriot Nation is high on life right now and looking forward to the Super Bowl. Last weekend Pam Dolby and son in law David Weagle went to the game and Jane Barbini attended with son Ryan. What a game to see. Let’s hope we can do it again at the Super Bowl. Go Pats!

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
