The Permanent Endowment Fund, the Island’s community foundation, is seeking grant requests from not-for-profit organizations and public agencies for grants from the general discretionary fund, the Island Fund, the James P. Cahen Fund and the Goldberg Fund. Grants from the general discretionary fund and Island Fund are for nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations primarily for capital, startup and special needs, not operating expenses. Grants from the James P. Cahen Fund must relate to medical, surgical and health-care services, with preference for services that benefit low-income residents of Martha’s Vineyard. Grants from the Goldberg Fund are to address the social, emotional and spiritual welfare of seafarers.

Applications and more information on making requests to the fund can be obtained on the Permanent Endowment Fund’s Web site: permanentendowmv.org. Grant information can also be obtained from the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank, Trust Department, P.O. Box 602, West Tisbury, MA 02575 (508-627-4266) or contact Deborah Hale at 508-627-3711. Grant requests must be received, not postmarked, no later than Feb. 29 for consideration in March.
