The Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard has announced its spring grant recipients with a total of $45,000 awarded to 14 Island organizations.

The spring grant recipients are the African American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard, Featherstone Center for the Arts, the Island Affordable Housing Fund, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group, the Oak Bluffs Council on Aging, Sail Martha’s Vineyard, the Silver Screen Film Society, Vineyard House, the Vineyard Nursing Association, Vineyard Open Land Foundation, Vineyard Village, Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and The Yard.

“We had a very interesting group of applicants this cycle,” reported Debbie Hale, chairman of the Permanent Endowment Fund, in a prepared statement. “From the arts to affordable housing to health care and the elderly, it was a wonderful cross section of nonprofits touching many different members of the Vineyard community.

“As always, we wish we had more money available for a greater number of the organizations who look to us for support,” she said. “But we are happy to report that the grant recipients this spring offered very interesting and often innovative proposals to improve the quality of life on the Island.”

The Permanent Endowment Fund is the Island’s community foundation.

With more than $6.5 million in assets, the fund provides grants to nonprofit organizations and funds scholarships for Vineyard students.
