Former chancellor of the University of Connecticut health center Dr. Les Cutler presents The Health Care Dilemma: How We Got Here, Where Can We Go, How Do We Get There? on Wednesday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Chilmark Public Library.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Chilmark Public Library, his lecture is free and all are welcome.

In addition to serving as chancellor, Dr. Cutler was president and chief executive of the University of Connecticut Health System and its Finance Corporation from 1992 to 2000.

From 1987 to 1992 he was the chief operating officer of the University of Connecticut health center and health system. Dr. Cutler is a former faculty member of the schools of medicine, dental medicine and graduate school of biomedical sciences, holding the rank of professor in the department of pathology and professor and chairman of the oral diagnosis department in the school of dental medicine. He also served as the chief science and technology business officer for the University of Connecticut system from 1999 to 2002.

Dr. Cutler has received numerous federal and research grants and has published more the 175 scientific and clinical articles, book chapters and abstracts.

Dr. Cutler has served on a number of public and private boards including the MIT Enterprise Forum of Connecticut, the Association of Academic Health Centers, State of Connecticut Governor’s Economic Development Council, and co-chairman of the Governor’s Economic Competitive Teams in Health Services and Biotechnology.
