Barry Nolan, a nationally known television and radio personality from the Boston area, will be the guest auctioneer at Sail Martha’s Vineyard’s popular Seafood Buffet and Auction, to be held this year on Sunday, July 6, at Tisbury Wharf.

Mr. Nolan, a television journalist for more than 30 years, will add some real fun to the 17th annual event, according to Sail Martha’s Vineyard president Peggy Schwier. “Here’s a guy who is the quintessential professional, yet has great energy, perspective, an incredible sense of humor and quick wit,” she said in a statement.

Mr. Nolan is donating his services to Sail Martha’s Vineyard, which provides free sailing lessons for almost 300 Island children every summer.

This year, there will more than 100 items in the silent and live auctions, including day sails on Magic Carpet, Auk and When and If, and a catered party at the Vose Boathouse, complete with a solo jazz accompaniment. Mr. Nolan will also be auctioning a reproduction 1902 Rambler antique car – just the thing for next year’s July 4 parade.

Tickets and information are available now at 508-696-7644 or online at sailmv.com. The event begins at 5 p.m. with an open bar cocktail reception and includes a seafood buffet catered by Fella Caterers, with music and dancing following the auction. Tickets are $125 and by reservation only.
