Friday, June 13: Sunny and warm. Not as hot. Temperature rises to the high 70s in the sun. The air is dry and fragrant. Rosa rugosa blooms on small sand dunes at State Beach. Floral display lines the Edgartown-Oak Bluffs road. Beach towels and swimmers color the beach.

Saturday, June 14: Busy sunny morning on the Oak Bluffs waterfront. Boat enthusiasts walk the promenade in front of the Wesley Hotel. A fleet of more than a dozen recreational fishing boats file out of the harbor at 9 a.m. Powerboats cross Nantucket Sound and head for Cape Pogue lighthouse. Cloudless afternoon. A bouquet of suntan lotion is adrift on Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs in the afternoon. Pink noses, cheeks and shoulders. The street is bustling with shoppers.

Sunday, June 15: Showers in the morning. Skies lighten late midmorning. Rain arrives in the afternoon. Light precipitation then a quick heavy shower in Vineyard Haven. Light breeze on the water.

Monday, June 16: Periods of sunshine. Mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Lightning fills the streets of downtown Vineyard Haven. Light drizzle. Thunderstorm arrives just before midnight. Heavy rain patters against the windowpane. Thunderstorm roars on.

Tuesday, June 17: Rain ends well before dawn. The landscape is wet, soaked from the overnight storm. Partly sunny skies. Sunny afternoon. Threatening clouds hug the northwestern horizon and turn pink as the sun sets. Mostly clear at night. Heat lightning late.

Wednesday, June 18: Clear in the morning. Quiet in downtown Edgartown at dawn. A farmer wearing a wide brim hat works the soil in Edgartown with a hoe. Steamship Authority ferries cross the water. The Middle Ground off West Chop is visited by a flotilla of small boats. Terns work the turbulent boiling water in the afternoon. Schooner Chantey speeds out of Vineyard Haven harbor.

Thursday, June 19: Sunny and seasonably cool in the morning. Thick dew covers tomato plants in Vineyard Haven. Honeysuckle in bloom. Vineyard Haven harbor is smooth as glass early.
