The African Artists’ Community Development project will be selling crafts from Ghana, Niger, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe on Tuesday, July 8, at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury from 5 to 9 p.m. Items for sale include baskets, woven grass ceremonial cloth, Tuareg silver jewelry, malachite jewelry, carved wooden bowls and salad servers, animal and human sculpture, brilliant khanga printed cloth and more.

The project sells crafts from artists in these struggling regions and sends the profits to a small orphanage near Lusaka, Zambia, and to the Mama Bakhita Center for Disabled Children in Livingstone, Zambia. It also helps individual Africans further their education and start small businesses.

At 6:30 and 8 p.m. project leader Marsha Winsryg will show the film she made with her daughter, Nora Winsryg-Karasik, Waging Peace in Zambia, which documents the project’s efforts in Zambia.
