Mostly Barns is the title of Wendy Weldon’s solo show at the Shaw Cramer Gallery opening today with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

Continuing her fascination with the shapes of barns and stone walls, she explores new inspirations of composition and color. Many of the paintings explore the relationship of two barns in various configurations.

Ms. Weldon: “The most remarkable part of being a painter is having the energy to continue creating new work, making new friends on canvas and paper. I love to paint. I love color. Barns give me endless opportunities to do what I love. My paintings celebrate the beauty that I am so privileged to experience. They symbolize my commitment to be a steward of this beautiful area.”

A full-time Island artist, Ms. Weldon, a Bard graduate, has exhibited her work nationally for more than 30 years

Everyone is invited to the artist’s reception, Friday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. with jazz piano by Abbie Dreyer, at Shaw Cramer Gallery, 56 Main Street in Vineyard Haven. The exhibition continues until July 23. The gallery is open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For details, call 508-696-7323.
