The Martha’s Vineyard Fish Farm for Haiti Project hosts a benefit tennis tournament from Thursday to Saturday, at the Martha’s Vineyard Resort 111 New York avenue in Oak Bluffs, open to all ages and levels. The entry fee is $50 per player. To sign up, call 508-693-0368.

Then Saturday, July 19, is the sixth annual Haitian Art Sale from 5 to 8 p.m. at the same location. Admission donation is $15 per person. The sale will feature live music by Boston musicians from the Haitian community, wine, and hors d’oeuvres, as well as framed art and metal sculptures. A silent auction and raffle tickets for an original Haitian art quilt will be available.

Since the first fundraiser for the fish farm project in 1998, the fish farm boasts five Tilapia ponds; a two-storey school; living quarters; a well; vegetable gardens and a chicken coop. Also at the site, just outside of Port-au-Prince, a women’s cooperative has been created. The PeaceQuilts initiative is producing one-of-a-kind art quilts which will be marketed in the United States to provide the women with a means of livelihood with dignity.
