Andy Braillard Wins

Charity Skeet Shoot

Andy Braillard of Vineyard Haven won the 11th Annual Klays for Kids Charity Skeet Shoot on July 20 at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club.

The event, contested under ideal weather conditions, benefits the club’s three projects for Island kids, was held at the club’s skeet range.

Mr. Braillard not only won the Klays for Kids Shoot. Earlier in the week, he shot his first-ever perfect game of 25 straight clay birds. His name will be engraved on both plaques indicating his accomplishments to date. His hat was shot at by members of his squad, as is the custom when a person reaches his or her first goal of 25 straight targets.

Mr. Braillard bested 11 other skeet shooters to take the first place in the shoot. Bill Damora of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., took first in Class B. Nelson Sigelman of Vineyard Haven finished first in Class C.

The fundraiser helps raise expense money toward the club’s children’s programs. Each participant paid anywhere from 25 cents per miss to a dollar per missed target, dependent on the shooter’s ability. Twelve skeeters participated in this year’s event. More than $325 was collected from this year’s event.
