In the lull between the primaries and the conventions, get a double dose of political satire on the Vineyard this weekend. Skip the fundraisers (they are so last weekend) and see musical satirists the Capitol Steps Saturday at the Tabernacle at 8 p.m., before catching comedian, political satirist and author of The All-American Sport of Bipartisan Bashing, Will Durst, at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Sunday, July 27, at 7 p.m.

The Capitol Steps return with a year’s worth of new material, including But We Only Have McCain ( to the tune of If I Only Had a Brain), Guantanamo (Kokomo) and California Gay Men (California Dreamin). Tickets are $25, or $35 for premium seating, available at Aboveground records, Alley’s, C’est la Vie, Island Music and the Cottage Museum and Shop in the Camp Grounds, or at the door. For details, see online mvcma.org.

Mr. Durst, who has performed at events honoring former Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush is, according to the New York Times, “quite possibly the best political satirist working in the country today.” Performing year-round in comedy shows, corporate events, theaters and benefits, Mr. Durst is also a regular commentator for audible.com, Air America, CNN, NPR and writes a nationally syndicated column. He is a five-time Emmy nominee and a recipient of seven consecutive nominations for the American Comedy Awards Stand Up of the Year.

Tickets for Will Durst’s show are $30, $20 for students and are available at Al’s Package Store, Aboveground Records and at the door. For details, call 617-966-6215.
