The Yard Arts! Kids, Family and Community festival programming continues. Besides the free family Saturday matinees every week (see above), The Yard is offering one more kids’ creative theatre workshop, an upcoming opportunity for kids to perform at the Tabernacle, and the Multi-Generational Performance Project with Sarah Wilbur.

There is just one more week of Kids’ Creative Theater with Music and Movement — August 11 to 15. Kid-tested (all thumbs-up) by many pint-sized Islanders entering grades one through five, these workshops run from 9:30 to 12:30 daily. Tuition is $275, with a discounted rate of $200 for children enrolled in Vineyard public schools, and scholarships are also available. Each day includes acting, singing, movement and improvisation in an atmosphere of disciplined fun. The Yard’s program is designed to engage the imagination, nurture talent, and expand self-confidence through skill-building and creative thinking in the performing arts. It’s an all-star-no-star approach. Workshops are taught by highly experienced guest teaching artists. Parents are invited to open sharings on Fridays.

Energetic young people in grades three through twelve are incited to perform alongside an all-star cast at The Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs on Sunday, August 17 at 3 p.m. Any children interested in singing, dancing or acting are welcome to participate at no cost. No experience is necessary. There will be a modular rehearsal schedule to accommodate busy lives.

Finally, choreographer Sarah Wilbur invites all Vineyard residents to participate in her project. No movement or performance experience is required. Men, women, children, actors, dancers, athletes and goofballs welcome to attend.
