A story on Island recycling in Friday’s Gazette incorrectly reported on the role of Allied Waste. The company does offer residential recycling and since May has offered single stream recycling, which co-mingles all recyclables, including paper.

The service now operates everywhere except Chappaquiddick, and will begin collections there starting Sept. 4.

A story about the summer business season in Friday’s Gazette misquoted Judy Hartford, owner of the Red Mannequin in Oak Bluffs and co-owner of Banana’s Gallery in West Tisbury. Ms. Hartford said her business was slower than previous years, although she did not say she was having one of her worst years ever.

A story in Friday’s Gazette about Island-sewn clothing contained errors. Vineyard Haven designer Stina Sayre is Swedish-born. Her designs range in price from $65 to $1,700, and her seamstress has worked for her for 16 years.

A story in the Friday, July 25, edition of the Gazette misspelled the name of film director Sara Nesson.

The Chilmark town column in Friday’s Gazette incorrectly reported the date of the annual Backyard Bash sponsored by the Chilmark volunteer firefighters. The bash will be held Wednesday, August 6 from 3 p.m. to dark at the Chilmark Community Center.

The Gazette regrets the errors.
