Tennis Player Honored

Ralph Stuart of Brookline and West Tisbury, has been inducted into the United States Tennis Association New England Hall of Fame.

Mr. Stuart is part of a short list of players who have enjoyed top-two rankings in four consecutive decades. Stuart was No. 2 in New England’s 18-and-under group in 1952. In 1969, he was No. 2 in the junior veterans category. In 1975, Stuart soared to the No. 1 spot in the 45s. Stuart was the second-ranked player in the 50s division in 1986.

He represented USTA New England in the Friendship Cup and has given his time and knowledge to young players as a volunteer with Vineyard Youth Tennis on the Vineyard.
