Featherstone Center for the Arts’ fall classes cover a wide range. A new instructor, Greg Watson, offers both figure drawing and portrait painting classes. Washington Ledesma opens his art history book to share the impact of famous artists, as well as teaching a course in ceramic design. Jack Greene presents Airbrush Painting and a class in sculpture: Wall Relief.

Art Camp for Adults, by Nancy Blank, includes an expansive program from drawing and painting to wire sculpture and ceramics. Carolyn Daniele, John Holladay and Ellen McCluskey once more offer their popular painting programs. Julia Mitchell’s Art of Tapestry and Kathy Rose’s Digital Photography 101 return as popular classes.

Open studios in photography, pottery and print-making give artists the opportunity to hone their skills in a workable environment. Two non-instructional figure drawing classes continue under the auspices of Featherstone.

Budding potters will be enthralled by Amy Nevin’s Me, Mommy and Magical Clay for two and three-year-olds and Little People’s Clay for three and four-year-olds. For both classes children must be accompanied by a parent.

Lani Carney continues her offerings to the preschool set with Saturday Art Adventures, as well as her Monday through Thursday offerings: Famous for a Day, Watercolor for Children, Animals in Art and Kinderart Classes.

For elementary age students, Saturday Arts has a lot to offer from ceramics to painting to jewelry making. An after-school program in culture classes of music and language arts, taught by Elizabeth Straton, rounds out the younger children program.

The free teen after-school arts program for high school students has expanded beyond poetry, ceramics and photography to include woodshop and portrait painting.

To minimize the impact on the environment, Featherstone is offering paperless registration for its fall art classes online at featherstonearts.org. Anyone who needs a printed version or who has a question not answered online is welcome to phone 508-693-1850 for details.
