Jeffrey Alley, 55, of Oak Bluffs was sentenced to between two and a half to three years in state prison last week in Dukes County Superior Court after pleading guilty to distribution of illegal prescription drugs, court records indicate.

Mr. Alley, who has an extensive criminal record on the Island, will serve his sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Facility at Cedar Junction (Walpole).

He was arrested last November by Oak Bluffs police officers assigned to the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force, as well as Sgt. Jeff Stone of the state police, when he was observed making a drug transaction with another man.

An investigation revealed that Mr. Alley was selling prescription Percocet pills for $30 apiece. He had been prescribed 180 pills the morning of his arrest and had only 87 pills left when he was arrested that afternoon. Police found him with $868 in cash.

The most recent investigation into Mr. Alley’s drug distribution was the result of concerned citizens’ complaints to police.

In other police news, Oak Bluffs police on Friday responded to a three-car accident involving a Vineyard Transit Authority bus on Sea View avenue just after 11 p.m. The second vehicle involved in the crash, a 1994 Eagle Talon, contained two passengers who suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for treatment.

The third vehicle, a 2005 Ford Ranger, reportedly fled the scene, and was later located on Circuit avenue along with the operator, 25-year-old Benjamin Fogg of Edgartown. Mr. Fogg was subsequently arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense), leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding.

On Saturday afternoon at about 4 p.m., a routine traffic stop by Oak Bluffs police led to the arrest of Eric Warner, 62, of Vineyard Haven, operating under the influence of alcohol (third offense) and several other traffic violations.
