Peacecraft holiday craft sale will be located at 9 Beach Road in Vineyard Haven this year, opening the day after Thanksgiving and running through Dec. 24. Organizers hope to recruit enough volunteers to be open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sue Tonry, owner of Wicked Martha’s, is closing the doors of her craft shop which has been located at Five Corners for the past 24 years. Ms. Tonry has donated the use of her storefront for 2008’s Peacecraft sale, the proceeds of which benefit the artisans and provide funding for medical, educational, and food programs in the poorest areas of the world.

In this year’s inventory there are many beautiful, hand-crafted items, including knit wool gloves, slippers, and mittens from Nepal; nativities and ornaments from Peru, the Philippines, Kenya, and India; earrings, wind chimes, and ornaments from Indonesia; earrings and ceramics from Mexico; tea from South Africa; jams from Swaziland; Peace Corp calendars; advent calendars with chocolate treats; coin purses, lipstick cases, and hand bags from Thailand; grocery tote bags from Bangladesh; linens, crafts, cards, and metalwork from Haiti; and other items.
