Thanksgiving, done. Next? For many, the next holiday tradition is the classic ballet, The Nutcracker.

Children in the Arts of Martha’s Vineyard will present the 11th annual Nutcracker Gala at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 6, and Sunday, Dec. 7.

The Nutcracker Prince’s triumphant battle with the Mouse King? Check.

Darting Snowflakes? Arabian and Spanish dancers? Sugar Plum Fairy? Check, check, check (with sugar on top).

Clara, whose dreams come true, will be played by Sarah Pertile of Edgartown on Saturday, and by Kendra Frank of Centerville on Sunday. Ethan Mendez of Vineyard Haven will play Fritz at both shows.

Both performances begin at 2 p.m. and feature the Atlantic Coast Ballet (formerly Cape Cod Ballet) with a cast of 14 professional dancers under the artistic direction of Tanya Vincent.

Also performing are the children from the Martha’s Vineyard School of Ballet under the artistic direction of Beth Vages, bringing a total cast of 75 dancers to the stage.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $25 for priority seating. There is a family price, good only on the day of the event — $50 for two adults and three children in the same family. Tickets may be purchased at Aboveground Records in Edgartown, Bowl & Board in Vineyard Haven, Alley’s General Store in West Tisbury, Our Market in Oak Bluffs.
