The sky this week gave us a beautiful show. The crescent moon and the planets Jupiter and Venus were very prominent. Monday night was the best night and the first things you saw when you looked up.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Abigail Desquenne, who celebrated her day Nov. 30, and to Samantha Cassidy and Brendan Morris Dec. 2, Justin Donahue, Dec. 4, and to Michaela Benefit who celebrates her day today, Dec. 5. Special birthday wishes to my niece Tina Polleys who celebrated her day Nov. 27, and to Joel DeRoche who celebrates his day Dec. 7.

Happy anniversary to my brother and sister in law Frank and Linda Noble who celebrated their 45th anniversary on Nov. 30.

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. We had dinner with Coo and Donna Cavallo and it was a great day. Their oldest son Amos was here from Las Vegas along with his girlfriend Ish which is short for a name I can’t pronounce and definitely can’t spell. They were also able to attend Amos’s class reunion. It was a great time and lots of reminiscing.

Wasn’t it not long ago that we were talking about all the tourist and the tour buses and the husbands sitting on the benches in town waiting for their wives shopping and eating their ice cream cones in the heat of the day.

Now we are transforming the town to Christmas. The streets are all buzzing getting ready for the Christmas in Edgartown festivities next weekend. The trees are being put up in town, Hagerty Tree’s men have been stringing lights in what we know as Cannonball Park, and the inns are putting on the white pine roping with white lights and red bows on their white picket fences. It really is a work in progress and a festive one and at the end it is a fun time in town.

Of course I have to say the weekend starts off at Donaroma’s where I know the employees have been busy. The pergola itself has over 7,000 lights on it and one of the trees has over 2,500 lights. The evening starts off at 6 p.m. and runs to 8. There will be the bell choir which is always a favorite and carolers and chestnuts roasting on the open fire. It is a great night for young and old and a great way to start the weekend.

Saturday is full of activities. There are many craft fairs, luncheons, and benefits for hospice and the library. There will be a craft fair at the Anchors. There are lists of activities at some of the hotels and inns.

Don’t forget the parade next Saturday. They are always looking for participants so you can give Gail Craig a call if you have something to put in the parade.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
