Martha’s Vineyard Magazine is a finalist for the 2009 National City and Regional Magazine Awards in two categories: General Excellence and, for its Home & Garden magazine.

Magazine professionals from around the country judged close to 800 entries from 59 magazines, this week naming five finalists in 29 categories. Winners will be announced at the CRMA annual conference June 1 in New Orleans.

“Like the Oscars, it’s an honor just to be nominated,” said Nicki Miller, editor of Martha’s Vineyard Magazine. “So many writers and photographers contribute to our publications, and the magazine is such a success because of them.”

Topping the list of CRMA award finalists with multiple nominations is Texas Monthly, followed by Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, 5280 (Denver), Atlanta and Philadelphia magazines.

Martha’s Vineyard Magazine is a first-time nominee and the entries that were judged reflect a 2008 redesign of the magazine, which includes a larger format, a new matte-finish cover, and a new masthead using a font designed by the Vineyard-based company, The Font Bureau.
