Oak Bluffs police had a busy weekend, among other things responding to a fight on Circuit avenue that involved up to ten people, a wide-ranging vandalism spree and a disruptive house party that led to a fracas with officers and multiple arrests.

Lieutenant Timothy Williamson said police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance on Summit avenue on Friday afternoon that led to the arrest of Mark Alger, 46, of Hyannis. Mr. Alger was charged with domestic assault and battery and threatening to commit a crime.

Around 11 p.m. on Saturday, officers walking along Kennebec avenue observed two individuals sitting in a parked vehicle insufflating a powdery substance. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the substance was a mixture of morphine and Percocet, and arrested Kara Marshall, 21, of Oak Bluffs and Stephen Brown, 21, of Edgartown.

Ms. Marshall was charged with possession of a class B substance; Mr. Brown was charged with two counts of possession of a class B substance and possession of a dangerous weapon (spring-loaded folding knife).

Police also received a call early Saturday morning that several businesses had been vandalized by someone who marked their property with a spray paint can. Targeted in the spray paint spree were Reliable Market, daRosa’s Computer Service, the Wesley Hotel and the sea wall at the old pay beach.

Lt. Williamson said the properties were marked with some sort of logo. Investigators are looking into a report of some spray paint stolen from an up-Island paint store to determine if the two incidents are related. Anyone with information should call Detective Nick Curelli at 508-693-0750.

Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, police arrested Ricky Duncan, 48, of Maryland, on charges of operating under the influence (second offense), negligent operation, marked lanes violation, failure to signal, uninsured motor vehicle, and failure to possess a driver’s license.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, police received a call of a large fight at the corner of Circuit and Pocasset avenues. When police arrived they found one male who had been hit in the head with a bottle. Police learned an unidentified male went to another male’s home to start a fight, and the situation escalated when one of the participants roommates became involved.

Lt. Williamson said many of the brawlers were held for questioning. Although no arrests were made, the investigation is ongoing.

At 2:42 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a noise complaint at 71 Worcester avenue. Officers were initially able to quell the noise, but warned the people inside they might be charged if police had to return. Not long after, around 3:45 a.m., police were again called to respond to a noise complaint.

Police first corroborated the noise from the home exceeded the legal threshold, and then went inside and arrested Stephen Flodstrom, 54, of Oak Bluffs and Walpole, on a charge of keeping a disorderly house. Mr. Flodstrom fought with police, Lt. Williamson said, and was also charged with resisting arrest.

Also arrested were Gary Hathaway of Edgartown, David Sylvia of Edgartown and Petrece Peterson of Tisbury.
