We are all still waiting for the heat to arrive. I have seen so many people with their warm jackets on, including myself, but we have to smile as the Island is blooming with green, and the iris’s are out and many other spring flowers.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Oliver Filley, who celebrated June 2; Wyatt Belisle, June 5; Kevin Willoughby, June 6; Ava Barnette and Rae Filley, June 7; and to Donald O’Shaughnessy Jr., who celebrates his day June 8.

Special wishes go out to Amy Look, who celebrated June 2; Ralph Case on June 3; and to Hilda Mitchell on June 6.

George and Susan Gamble have had a lot to smile about the past two months, as their family has increased by two. Their daughter and son in law, Sara and Jay Graves, presented them with a granddaughter on Easter Sunday, April 12. Ava May was two months early and weighed 3 pounds, 4 ounces. Ava is doing fine. Mom and Ava arrived home on Mother’s Day and Ava is now 6 pounds, 11 ounces.

Then on May 23, son Derek and daughter in law Kathleen presented them a daughter. Ella Grace arrived weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces. Derek and Kathleen live in Ramsey, N.J.

The past few weeks some of the customers who come into the nursery at Donaroma’s have commented on the parking lot. They ask when we got the new lot and what it is for. They are amazed to find out it is the town lot and they can park there and ride the trolley in. The lot has always been there, but now that it is paved and there are new trees planted and the lanterns are in for lighting they notice it more than when it was just dirt. It was a long time coming, and it looks quite nice, and there is plenty of room.

I was walking through the town hall Wednesday and was happy to see Bob and Deb Edmonds who were here visiting. They are still in Jerusalem working with the church but this time of year is less busy and they were happy to be able to take a break and visit their Island home.

Have a great week, and keep the home candles burning.
