We could have not asked for a better Fourth of July. The sun was shining, the people were happy, the parade was great and the fireworks beautiful. Who could ask for more?

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Jesse Herman who celebrated his day July 4, Branden Sayles and Jonathan Watson on July 5, Parker Ben David on July 7, and to Matthew Fish, who celebrated his day July 9.

Special wishes to Corrine Hatt, who celebrated her day July 4, and to her husband, Stoney, who celebrated his day July 7.

Fourth of July was a nice day with sun, lots of activity and lots of company. My brother is in the Colonial Navy and visits every year at this time. We supply the yard and we serve lots of seafood for their enjoyment. I sometimes wonder who gets the best part, as the families are so nice and we enjoy their visit.

It is nice though and we get to see the parade being put together and we see lots of people as they go by. We have to give Ted Morgan a big hand as he covers a lot of ground to make sure things are running smoothly and the parade goes off at exactly 5 p.m. on the dot.

Our other relatives arrived on Saturday night, and there is house full of them. They all rented a house in West Tisbury, and I feel like we have been on a vacation as we have been up visiting almost every night for dinner and great company.

Traveling from Maryland are Jackie Dye and her children, Caroline, Adam and Cameron and their family dog Sam; Scott, Alexa and Evan Vehovic and their dogs Grover and Bruno; Lynn and Mike Kujan, and their dogs, Tilly and Tank, and the only cat of the crew, Bonkers, who know to stay in the room and come out in the middle of the night.

From New York, Mike, Abby and Fiona Brennan and from Somerset, Nelson and Jen Furtado, and Nelson’s cousin Diane Simoes from Fall River joined the gang Wednesday night.

Congratulations to Leah Phillips and Joe DiAmato who were joined in marriage on June 27. This is where Facebook comes in, as we enjoyed watching the events happening and then the event itself, and what a beautiful bride Leah was and her handsome husband. The skies were shining on them as a double rainbow appeared over them while they were having their pictures taken. Congratulations to both of them, and here is to many happy years together.

Have a great week, and keep the home candles burning.
