Vineyard House Benefit Set to Slake

Vineyard House will be holding their 12th annual Water Tasting event on Friday, July 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Captain Flanders house on North Road in Chilmark.

Vineyard House president Mark Jenkins promises hors d’oeurve from the Kitchen Porch, music by both Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish and the popular Flying Elbows group, plus a silent and a live auction with items that include everything from travel to intimate dinners for two at Island restaurants, from personalized fishing lessons to Red Sox tickets.

And, of course, it’ll all be for a great cause. Vineyard House is the only facility of its kind on Martha’s Vineyard. Designed to provide safe, sober housing to Islanders in early recovery from drugs and alcohol, Vineyard House has helped literally hundreds of men and women get back to leading happy, productive lives. The organization, a registered charity with a board of directors drawn from a broad cross-section of Island residents, operates three sober houses on Martha’s Vineyard, including one exclusively for women. This annual Water Tasting event for the benefit of Vineyard House raises much-needed funds for operating expenses.

Suggested donation is $50, and tickets are available online at vineyardhouse@vineyard.net, at the Vineyard House office at 15 Church street in Vineyard Haven or just get them at the door.
