Mow Crew, a landscaper love affair comedy filmed on Martha’s Vineyard, will have a one-night screening on Saturday, August 8, at the Capawock with two showings, at 7 and 9:15 p.m.

Since it screened to sold-out crowds in the spring, the film has won the Indie Spirit Special Recognition Award at the Boston International Film Festival

Writer-director Taylor Toole will attend with cast and crew members for question-and-answer sessions following the film.

Here’s the pitch: “In this romantic comedy, Island native Eric Campbell has to make it through his last day of work as a landscaper before he can move to Los Angeles with his girlfriend to capitalize on a recording deal they’ve been offered...

“But with a rival landscaping crew, a disaster-prone coworker, and the reemergence of an ex-girlfriend, this won’t be as easy as it sounds. Not to mention the fact he’s not sure he wants to leave. His girlfriend, Sage, on the other hand, cannot wait to leave home. But in addition to discovering her boyfriend/bandmate might bail on her, she also has to find a way to be comfortable leaving behind her reckless sister and incarcerated father.”

It’s got music, it’s got faces familiar to Island theatre lovers, and it’s rated R.
