It was a beautiful day on Sept. 19 for the wedding of Durwood and Jamie Sue Vanderhoop and those who shared it with them. Family and friends gathered from across the country and from as far away as British Columbia.

Congratulations to Richard and Jennifer (Caton) Randolph on the birth of their daughter Divya Shaye Randolph who was born on Sept. 23 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Divya is the granddaughter of Mavis Camillo of Oak Bluffs, Wayne Lobo of Falmouth and Christine MacMullen of Fairhaven. She is the newest Aquinnah tribal member and is also welcomed by her sisters Jada Lee and Saroya Lynn.

Aquinnah residents attending the U2 concert at Gillette Stadium this week included Albert, Linda and Molly Fischer, Paul and Theresa Manning and Tim Murphy.

Tyler Bellis and his wife Carrie Anne (Vanderhoop) arrived from Masset, British Columbia, for her uncle Woody’s wedding.

Charles W. Vanderhoop 3rd of Manhattan has been at his Aquinnah home and enjoying a visit with family and friends.

Capt. William D. Vanderhoop Jr. and his fellow Menemsha charter captains participated in volunteering for the charter boat fishing tournament for the visiting veterans from Maine. It was reported that each of the veterans caught a fish on their respective boats. Thank you to the Robert and Sarah Nixon family of Chilmark and especially their eight-year-old son Jack for his wisdom. It is anticipated that this will perhaps become an annual event. We can never give too much support to our veterans who have fought for our freedom and especially those who have been wounded. They are all heroes. Bless them.

The Aquinnah Public Library is packed up and ready for the move across the street to the little red school house within the next few weeks. Thanks to all the volunteers who made the first part of the transition so smooth. Next chapter!
