Please Adopt Us

Hours have been extended at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. The shelter is now open Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 508-627-8662.

If you are looking for a great adult cat, please stop by the shelter and see our beautiful older cats. All are spayed or neutered and have had all their shots.

They are: Arnold, a beautiful dark orange tiger who should go to a home where he can be the only cat; Cleo, a mostly white petite cat who loves to be petted; Squibby, a big Manx (no tail) tiger who is declawed and needs to be a house cat only; Sky, a gorgeous, big part-Siamese cat with beautiful blue eyes; Max and Phoebe, cage mates who ideally should find a home together; and Sunny, an unusually marked tortoishell. There are also two female kittens: Scooter, a shy black kitten with white paws who needs a lot of TLC, and Maggie, a very young tiger kitten who was found in Vineyard Haven. Maggie has not had her shots yet because she is tooyoung, but she will have them soon and will be spayed in afew months. She is ready to be adopted as soon as she has her shots.

Our one dog is Rita, a purebred black chow who is very friendly and loves people.

Volunteers are badly needed for our newly expanded afternoon hours; please call or stop by if you would like to help out.

And a special note about Susie, our Labrador who has had a rough life: she has been adopted by a wonderful older couple who fell in love with her at first sight. We know that she will have the best home possible and we will certainly missher.
