Reading, Knotting and Hula Hoop

Adult Continuing Education of Martha’s Vineyard is enjoying its most successful semester yet, with record numbers of classes and students — and you can still sign up to be part of it, for one night or a whole course.

ACE’s place is partly as an information go-between, smoothing the exchange of knowledge and skills within the Vineyard community through partnerships with a laundry list of Island organizations. The program offers learning opportunities for anyone, of any age, who calls the Vineyard home. Since its first semester last fall, ACE organizers have expanded the breadth of their offerings and added the opportunity to earn credits through a partnership with Northeastern University.

ACE still has openings for the fall semester, but they can fill fast, so sign up today at acemv.org. Your choices include: Introduction to Alexander Technique with Margaret Knight, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3; Keys to Independent Reading (for Parents) with John Cummings, Tuesday, Nov. 3; Reiki I with Maria Avila, Saturday, Nov. 7; Wampanoag Culture: Myths Versus Legends with Jannette Vanderhoop, Tuesday, Nov. 10; Intro to Hula Hoop Workout and Dance with Keren Tonnessen, Thursday, Nov. 12; Art With Rope: How to Tie Decorative and Functional Knots with Lily K. Morris (pictured), Wednesday, Nov. 4; American Red Cross Course Trainings/Psychological First Aid, Tuesday, Nov. 3; and Standard First Aid with CPR/AED-Adult, Saturday, Nov. 7.
