Please Adopt Us

The spay/neuter program on the Vineyard seems to be working exceptionally well because we have no kittens at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard who need homes. But if you are fortunate enough to adopt one of our beautiful adult cats, may we offer a bit of advice — have patience! Most of these cats have been confined to a cage for awhile; they may be strays who have been on their own for a time, so if they don’t behave exactly as you would like them to immediately, they need to be retrained and that may take some time. We have had some wonderful cats returned after just a day or so because they didn’t behave exactly as expected. So be patient and give them a chance to get used to their new home.

Still available for adoption are: Squibby, the tiger Manx; Casper, the all-black male; Sky, the handsome part-Siamese cross with a beautiful coat and lovely blue eyes; and the two sweet, shy cage mates Phoebe and Max who need to be adopted together because they are so closely bonded. Phoebe and Max have been at the shelter much too long and really need to find a home together.

The shelter hours are Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number is508-627-8662.
