I think if we didn’t know it was November, with the weather the way it is you would think it was spring. I have had people tell me hey have lilies with buds on them in their gardens, and if you look around town the geraniums are still in full bloom and flourishing.

On Sunday morning I got a call from Mike Dolby, Pam Dolby’s husband, to inform me that the pinkletinks were out at Sweetened Water Farm. So I guess that means that spring is really here.

Happy birthday to all those who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Adam Castro, who celebrated his day Nov. 14; Noah Smith, Nov. 15; Kelly Cleary, Hiaggo Goncalves, Joshua Grant, Audrey McCarron and Catlin Nichols, who all celebrated their day Nov. 17; and to Myllenna De Oliveira, who celebrates her day Nov. 19.

Special wishes go out to Jennifer Rankow, who celebrated a milestone birthday on Nov. 18.

Jim and Maryellen Kresel had a wonderful time last weekend as they and their son Jonathan and future daughter in law Courtney Conklin traveled to Courtney’s parents home in Salisbury, Conn. They also visited the Lenox Resort in Lenox, Mass., where the wedding reception will be held in the spring. Courtney got great joy in showing them around her childhood home.

Coo and Donna Cavallo’s home was the place to be on Sunday, as they held a baby shower for Anastasia Oliveira, the girlfriend of their son Jonas. Ana is the daughter of Michael Oliveira and his wife, Courtney, and her mom is Patricia Carreiro from Assonet, Mass.

Ana enjoyed the company of her friends — Deb Elias even traveled from off-Island for the occasion — and fellow workers, and she received some beautiful baby gifts. The baby is due in December. This baby is the first grandchild on either side of the family, so everyone is excited for the event.

Good luck, Ana, and we can’t wait to meet baby Cavallo.

On the weekend of Nov. 7, Coo and Donna traveled to Long Island to be with his cousins Andy Bene and his wife, Chris. They traveled there for the wedding of another cousin, Michelle’s daughter Maria.

Andy spent many summers here with the Cavallo brothers when they were younger and they all worked at the yacht club with their grandfather. Andy still loves to come to the Vineyard with his family to vacation and visit.

As you read this article, the turkey will now be bought and some people will be making pies or whatever the family serves on Thanksgiving, and there will be many people getting ready to travel to family off-Island. I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and safe travels.

Have a great week, and keep the home candles burning.
