The star-stuffed, every-song-has-you-humming, Technicolor spectacular Meet Me in St. Louis will be on the big screen at the Vineyard Playhouse on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

An old-fashioned romantic favorite with plenty of laughs and a close-knit family, this 1945 classic from Vincente Minnelli is perhaps most famous for Judy Garland (yes, this is the film where she and Minnelli fell in love) singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Bring the tissues for this scene. And expect to find “Clang, clang, clang went the trolly ...” playing in your head as you skip out of this feel-good film.

Garland plays the second oldest of four wild and musically talented daughters, Esther, who falls in love with the boy next door as the family struggles with a life-changing decision: will they move from their beloved St. Louis.

Island Entertainment’s Jamie Alley will introduce the movie.

Proceeds will benefit two local nonprofits, the Vineyard Playhouse and the Island Food Pantry. Tickets are at the door only; $5 for general admission, or two-for-one for children and teens. Bring a nonperishable food item for the Island Food Pantry to receive free popcorn.

The Vineyard Playhouse is a fully accessible venue. For details, call 508-696-6300.
