Live radio returns to the Vineyard Playhouse, as It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play makes its second consecutive showing as the annual family holiday production. The popular play is based on the Frank Capra film, adapted by Philip Grecian and directed by playhouse artistic director, MJ Bruder Munafo.

This classic tale plays for ten more performances, and one was last night. Shows are Thursdays through Mondays, through Dec. 21 at the playhouse in downtown Vineyard Haven.

The cast features Christopher Kann as George Bailey and Victoria Campbell as Mary Hatch Bailey, along with Don Lyons, Clark Maffitt, Leslie J. Stark, Katherine Reid and many others. Cast member and musician Rob Myers has composed original jingles for several local businesses that will be performed by singers during the radio show. Wesley Nagy has arranged and performs all the music and musical sound effects at each performance. Jim Novack and Paul Munafo have assembled the sound effects and present them in an extremely amusing matter with the assistance of Geneva Monks on footsteps. Fred J. Hancock is the lighting designer.

Tickets for all performances are $15 for adults of all ages, and $10 for children 18 and younger. The show is recommended for ages eight and up. On Friday nights, Vineyarders can use their Island Club cards for additional discounts. Advance tickets are available online through the playhouse Web site.

Show times are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday nights at 7 p.m. plus two Sunday matinees, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. The Vineyard Playhouse is a fully accessible venue. For more information, call 508-696-6300 or see online vineyardplayhouse.org.
