Please Adopt Us

There is an old story that at Christmas time all the animals can speak, so the animals at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard would like to tell you their stories, in their own words, and wish everyone happy holidays and a Happy New Year.

“My name is Foosa; I’m a very handsome black cat; I love people, other cats and even dogs. I’m quite lonesome because my best friend Sushi was adopted last week and I miss her.”

“I’m called Squibby and I have no tail because I am a tiger Manx; I would love to be an indoor-outdoor cat. I’m also very friendly.”

“I’m a sleek black cat with pretty green eyes and my name is Shady. I am a spayed female and I have been declawed in front so I would have to be an indoor cat. And I promise not to scratch your furniture.”

“I’m a petite gray tiger cat and my name is Ladybug. I love to play and chase toys and beg for attention.”

“Our names are Max and Phoebe and we are good friends and would like to be adopted together. We are both quite shy but love to be petted and would make great lap cats. We are very gentle.”

“My name is Sky and I have been here at the shelter for a long time and although Lisa our manager and the volunteers are very good to me and play with me a lot, I would really love to find a forever home. I am part Siamese and have a beautiful coatand big blue eyes.”

“I am Pearl, quite an elderly lady with a pure white coat; I’m very gentle and would love to curl up on a lap or on a nice soft couch.”

“We are the only dogs at the shelter now. Both of us are beagles and are very good buddies. Although we haven’t had much training, we are smart and learn quickly. Oh yes, our names are Vito and Louie.”

The shelter will be closed on Christmas day and open Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662. Volunteers are always needed; please call Lisa at the shelter to find out how you can help.
