The board of directors of the Farm Neck Foundation has announced their annual grants for the year 2009. This year’s grants total $36,000. The Farm Neck Foundation is an independent charitable corporation created by Farm Neck Golf Club to provide charitable assistance exclusively for Martha’s Vineyard.

Martha’s Vineyard Museum receives $1,500 to help with productions costs of the 2010 Dukes County Intelligencer.

The County of Dukes County Veterans’ Agent receives $2,000 in funds for active duty soldiers and the Veterans’ Fund. The Aquinnah Cultural Center receives $2,000 to help fund the fourth annual Native Artisan Festival.

Women Empowered receives $3,500 to help with costs for the coming year’s programs.

The Yard receives $3,000 as a challenge grant to support the 2009-10 Artists-in-the-Schools program.

Serve New England/MV Chapter 5551 receives $3,500 to help establish a home delivery system for the elderly and physically challenged and expand the program to low-income families.

The Polly Hill Arboretum receives $2,000 to purchase a leaf and lawn vacuum.

The American Legion Goethals Post 257 receives $3,100 to purchase tables and chairs for their meeting hall.

Vineyard Village at Home receives $1,500 to fund a part-time driver in the summer months.

Island Health, Inc. receives $3,500 to provide travel costs for dentists and hygienists.

Sail Martha’s Vineyard, Inc. receives $2,500 to help fund Maritime Vocational Training at the regional high school.

The Vineyard Voice, Inc. receives a $2,500 challenge grant to help fund a year-round video-journalism program for Island youth.

The Drum Workshop, Inc. receives $1,140 to purchase Congo drum heads, rims, lugs and sticks.

SafeRides of Martha’s Vineyard receives $2,000 to purchase four cell phones with one year’s service.

The Vineyard Playhouse receives $1,250 to purchase a projector.

Vineyard House, Inc. receives $543 to purchase a Hotpoint Stove.

Adult and Community Education of MV receives $2,000 to help fund the printing of next year’s ACE MV Catalog.

In addition to their annual grants, the board notes that this year completes their pledges of two major grants. The final installments have been paid this year to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Building Fund ($125,000 paid over five years) and to the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard ($25,000 paid over three years).
