The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a few nice animals who need good homes.

Are you missing a cat? We have two very sweet, friendly strays that must belong to someone — they are healthy and well fed, and we’re sure their owners are looking for them. Debbie is a young, spayed, all-black female. She was found at Sea Glen in Oak Bluffs. The other stray is Moonlight (we named her and Debbie.) She is a tabby and white, very friendly and loves to be held. She was found at Edgartown Estates. Anyone who has lost a cat, please call the animal shelter, as well as the animal control officer in your town. Oftentimes, people will find a cat they think is a stray when it already has a home.

These cats are neutered or spayed, have been checked by a veterinarian and given their shots; they are ready for adoption unless their owners come to claim them. We also have Cora, the beautiful grey and white pure-bred Persian, and Sam (also known as Cyrus) is a big, handsome, and black neutered male. Misty is another friendly black cat. She used to be a barn cat and would probably do well in someone’s barn.

The dogs, P.J., the Staffordshire terrier, and Vito, the brown and white beagle, are still here, and really need to be in loving homes instead of cages.

Won’t you please stop by to hug a cat and maybe fall in love?

Shelter hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662. Volunteers are needed.
