As part of its ongoing effort to help Vineyard nonprofits find new sources of revenue, the Martha’s Vineyard Donors Collaborative is pleased to announce that Grant Resource Network: Martha’s Vineyard will offer a workshop in basic grant-writing skills. The two-part workshop will be offered on March 1 and 2 at the Oak Bluffs Public Library. The workshop includes three classes over one and a half days and is open to all. The cost is $25.

The workshop will be taught by Martha Moore of Associated Grant Makers in Boston and includes hands-on experience in searching databases and writing grant applications. Complete information and registration forms are available at mvdonors.org. The workshop is made possible by a grant from the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation.

The workshop begins with registration on March 1 at 8:30 a.m. with the first session beginning at 9 a.m. This session will focus on foundation grants, and how to research them. The morning session ends at 11:45 a.m.; lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The afternoon session runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and is limited to 20 people. This session involves more in-depth work with databases, including two key databases used for grant research.

On the second day, March 2, doors open at 8:30 a.m.; coffee and refreshments will be served. The morning session begins at 9 and runs until 12:15 p.m. and will focus on how to write a winning grant proposal.

The grant research and writing workshops are sponsored by the Oak Bluffs Library, Associated Grant Makers of Massachusetts and the Martha’s Vineyard Donors Collaborative. Grant Resource Network: Martha’s Vineyard has trained 15 people with grant writing and research experience who are available by appointment.
