This was the week for the windows to be open for a little to change the air in the house, the clothes made it to the line, and there was a lot of raking outside. It was really fabulous and I know that Mother Nature has really teased us.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their birthday this past week. Big balloons go out to Joseph Pinto, who celebrated March 6; William Bruguiere, March 7; Kya Maloney, March 8; and to Ava Thors, who celebrated her day March 11.

Special wishes go to Gail Avakian, who celebrated her day March 6, and to Richard Prieto and Derek Gamble, who celebrated their day March 10.

Congratulations to Ryan and Chelsea Barbini, who welcomed home their second child. Phoebe Jane Barbini was born on Jan. 31, weighing 9 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 and a half inches long. Ryan, Chelsea and Chelsea’s dad Richard traveled to bring Phoebe home Feb. 6. Phoebe was welcomed by big brother Tyler Liam. Proud grandparents are Richard and Marnie Toole, and Richard and Jane Barbini.

Well, spring is in the air, the crocuses are up, the daffodils are peeking their green out of the ground and today I looked and my miniature irises are blooming.

The best sign of spring is really coming because Wednesday, March 17, at 11 a.m. the Dairy Queen opens for the season. We have all been very curious on what is going on behind the blocked windows and with all the guys going in and out with hammers and what have you. If you are on Facebook then you know what all the construction is looking like inside, but it will be nice to see it in person. Also they are serving two new items, an Orange Julius and a new premium fruit smoothie so there is a lot to be excited about.

Peter and Nancy Shemeth and Dick and Jane Barbini just got back from traveling to UConn to watch the Big East Tournament. They are all a big fan of March Madness but they love UConn and were very happy that they won the tournament against West Virginia.

Home after a well deserved vacation are Coo and Donna Cavallo, Pam Dolby and her husband, and Bob and Gail Avakian, who were in St. John. They all joined up with Janice and Michael Donaroma and Norman and Margaret Rankow.

Also joining everyone were Alex and Laura Alexander and Debbie and Aziz Elias, and their children Alexa, and her husband Marty McCabe, and Adam and Alex Elias. They are the Rankow’s neighbors in Edgartown and Alex is an officer on the Edgartown Police Department.

Others that were down there were Trish and Bill Meyers and DiAnn and Sandy Ray.

The Edgartown School fifth grade is putting on the play Dear Edwina on March 17 at 7 p.m. I hear it is a great play and all the cast has been working hard on their parts.

The third annual Celebrity Waiters Pasta Dinner at the Federated Church Parish Hall will be on March 20 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. All are invited. Come and support your favorite impostor, to benefit the Haiti PeaceQuilts project. The fee is adults $7, children $5. For parents with children the cost is $25.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
