Banjo Jingle Jangle

Richie Stearns with David Gura perform at the Katharine Cornell Theatre this Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. A banjo player, Mr. Stearns’ performance features a mix of old-time music and 20th century pop music conventions, strong, thoughtful songwriting and a lot of improvisation. The roster of bands with whom he’s recorded includes Horse Flies, Natalie Merchant, Donna the Buffalo, Bubba George, John Doyle, and Carrie Rodriguez. Critic Tim O’Brien has said, “Richie Stearns’ groove is as deep as the earth’s core. His sound is always true and meaningful, no matter what instrument he plays, no matter what song he sings. His music never fails to take me to a better place. The world could do with a little more of it.”

Tickets to the show are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Aboveground Records, Island Entertainment, Alley’s General Store, Scottish Bakehouse and The Oak Bluffs General Store, as well as marthasvineyardtickets.com.
