The bunny arrived just a little late at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard to be adopted in time for Easter, but he is there in his own special roll-around cage; it’s a beauty and so is Romeo, white with striking black spots, a very unusual bunny.

We have the same sweet cats just waiting for someone to take them home: Dixie, the most beautiful calico we have ever seen who loves people and is a real lap cat; Phoebe, an orange and white (for all of you who have asked for orange cats, here she is!); Binx, the prettiest black cat with gorgeous green eyes and long white whiskers; Cyrus, who is getting fat on all the good food and needs a place of his own to exercise and slim down a bit (he is a little shy with young children but loves adults and loves to be held);and MissMisty, the FIV positive sweet little tiger tabby who loves company (the volunteers spend a lot of time with her cheering her up). Ask your vet about FIV — she is healthy but just can’t be around other cats and needs to be an indoor cat. Come see her; you will fall in love.

The shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number is 506-627-8662.

If anyone has kittens that they would like to find good homes for, we have a waiting list for kittens. They will be given their first shots, and if they are still at the shelter when it is time for them to be spayed or neutered, that will be done also. We take very good care of our adoptable animals, but they need to find comfy, permanent homes.
