As part of the national Week of the Young Child, the Island Children’s School has been taking field trips to the West Tisbury Library this week to promote early literacy. The school also honored teachers with a special lunch prepared by the parents and gifts of thankfulness from the children.

Lastly the children are decorating stars for the Rising Stars of Massachusetts 2010 movement — sending stars and a message to the Massachusetts House of Representatives about the importance of maintaining support for high-quality early education and care.

“All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and Massachusetts has a great opportunity to do our part to help young children,” said Julie Immelt the director of Island Children’s School.
