Please Adopt Us

Our four little black kittens at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard have all been spoken for and will be leaving us soon, which will leave the mother cat alone. I’m sure she will be lonely and as soon as she is spayed she will be ready for adoption. She is very petite, really a baby herself, and we think she might be part Siamese. She is very sweet and loves people. We also have four new cats all ready for new homes. Dolly is a black and white tuxedo cat with white whiskers; she is an indoor cat and doesn’t care much for other cats, and she is very much a lap cat. Sox and Mantra are brothers and we would love to see them be adopted together because they are very close. Mantra is black, and Sox is orange and white, and both are very affectionate; they are indoor-outdoor cats. And then there is Zephrus, a semi-long-haired black, very gentle and affectionate, well house trained and loves to sit in your lap. He would be happiest being the only cat, and will make a wonderful companion fo r a special person. Other cats that have been at the shelter much too long and really need to find new homes are: Cyrus, our big, black lovable guy; Dixie, the beautiful black, orange and white calico; Phoebe, the orange and white cat; Binx, the black cat with beautiful white whiskers; and Miss Mist y, the small, gray tiger tabby who would just love to get out of her cage and find a nice soft lap to sit in. Please stop by and see all these wonderful cats — any one of them would make your home a happier place. They are all neutered or spayed and have all had their shots.

We also have an adorable guinea pig named Louise who is very tame and comes with her own nice cage.

The shelter can always use cleaning supplies such as laundry soap (liquid), bleach, dish soap, kitty litter and litter deodorant (Arm and Hammer brand is available at Stop and Shop and Cronig’s).

The shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

If you are interested in doing some volunteering at the shelter, we would love to take your name and the hours you are available; please stop by or call Lisa at the shelter. We can certainly use help now that summer is upon us and we are getting more animals in for adoption every day.
