Please Adopt Us

Adoptions seem to have slowed down a bit in the last week or so at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. So if you are looking for a feline friend, please stop by the shelter and see all of our handsome, lovable cats. They are: Cyrus, a big, friendly black cat; Dixie, a beautiful calico; Phoebe, an unusual orange and white cat; Binx, a sweet, shy black fellow with long white whiskers; Mantra, who lost his buddy Sox last week and is lonesome without him; Zephrus, another beautiful black cat; Dolly, a sweet, handsome tuxedo cat (if you have no idea what a tuxedo cat is, stop by and see her!); Miss Misty, who is fast becoming the shelter mascot along with Cyrus; and Walter, another tuxedo who was a stray and is about a year old. And we still have one all-black kitten; we have named him Elliot and he wants out of his cage and loves to be held. He is about nine weeks old and has had his first shots. All the cats are either spayed or neutered and have had all their shots.

And last but not least is Louise, the guinea pig; she has her own cage and is waiting for some child who will love her.

The shelter remains in desperate need of cleaning supplies, including bleach, paper towels and Tide environmentally-friendly laundry soap (look for the HP on the front of the bottle).

The shelter hours are Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 508-627-8662. If you would like to volunteer, please call Lisa during shelter hours.
